What You Will Need
- 1 old tyre
- Plywood (for tabletop and legs)
- Jute rope
- Acrylic sheet
- Strong adhesive or glue gun
- Epoxy
- Scale and pencil
- Cutter and jigsaw
- Sandpaper
- Succulents and pebbles
Step 1: Binding the Ropes
Place three jute ropes side by side. Begin twisting them together tightly to form a thicker, more durable rope that will be used for wrapping and accents.
Step 2: Creating the Top
Cut a round plywood piece using a jigsaw to match the top size of your tyre. Sand the edges for a smooth finish. Drill small holes around the edge, then secure it to the top of the tyre with screws.
Step 3: Wrapping the Tyre with Jute Rope
Use a hot glue gun to fix the start of the jute rope to the tyre. Carefully wrap the rope around the tyre, applying glue along the way. Make sure the coils are tight and without gaps. Tuck the final end and glue it securely.
Step 4: Fixing the Legs
Sketch your desired leg shape on paper and transfer it to plywood. Cut out using a jigsaw. Sand edges smooth. Mark leg placement on the underside of the plywood top and secure using screws or nails.
Step 5: Making the Top Shelf
Use a circular Styrofoam sheet as a mold. Cut it to size and place it in the center. Pour concrete mix around it and let it dry. Once cured, remove the Styrofoam and gently lift the finished structure.
Step 6: A Layer of Epoxy
Pour epoxy slowly over the surface. Use a spreader or brush to even it out. This creates a smooth, glossy finish and seals the top shelf.
Step 7: Fill Up with Greeneries
Paint a bowl and place it in the center hollow of the tyre. Add succulents, moss, or air plants, followed by a layer of pebbles. Cover with an acrylic sheet. Mist plants occasionally and trim when necessary.
Step 8: Enjoy Your Tea
Your eco-conscious tea table is now complete. Set it on your patio or living room and enjoy your favorite drink with a side of sustainability.
Note: Let all adhesives and concrete cure fully before placing any weight on the table.
